The Naruto MMO We All Want
The Naruto MMO we all want
For so long MMO games have been a staple to the gaming community. Back in the day World of Warcraft was such a crazy sensation that everyone lost their SHIT over it.
And if you were around during that time, you would know that nothing has made that big of an impact since.
Now honestly to me the same sucks now. They never improved it and I haven’t played in 10 years (other than a small dabble here and there).
The whole “button rotation” mmo style died with millennials (or so they say).
I know Final Fantasy mmo is pretty big, but that’s in large part to two things.
- It’s final fantasy. Which is dope as shit.
- It looks “anime” ish so it fully gets that market on board to play over others
- Great community
While all those things are great, I think there is a HUGE opportunity to have a “new age” mmo. Similar to something like TERA which was real action based combat, not the standard button rotation of old style mmo’s.
There is such a massive market for a new MMO with fluid combat similar to an action game. And since the weeb market is so massive now, game developers can’t go wrong with an anime MMO.
And what better place to start than the Naruto universe….
It’s perfect. Because everyone at least KNOWS of Naruto AND everyone likes ninjas.
So let’s walk through the specifics, and who knows…. Maybe a game developer will see this someday and make the best MMO ever.
Have you ever played Naruto Shinobi Strikers?
It so SO DAMN GOOD.
The combat is awesome, and they already have a “class” system in place. This could definitely be implemented into an MMO.
If you haven’t played it, it works very similar to the regular Naruto Ninja Storm fighting games. You have basic attacks , Jutsu’s on cooldown, and “replacements” to dodge.
The major difference from the Ninja Storm games is that in Shinobi Strikers the movement is much more “free”.
You’re not confined to a small circle to fight one person. It’s 4v4 and the maps are much larger with objectives. Plus you get a “grapple Kunai” which adds the height dimension, instead of just fighting on the ground.
An MMO with this very similar fighting style (adapted for more players) would be ideal and entertaining.
WARNING TO DEVELOPERS
DO NOT!!! I REPEAT.. DO NOT make “factions” based on villages.
For one, there are too many. The population would be too small for some villages, and 80% of people will choose “leaf” anyway.
Allow players to be whatever “village” they want, or just make all ninjas from the same village and find a new way faction idea.
For classes I will again refer to “shinobi Strikers”.
There are 4 classes in that game. Attack, Defense, Heal, Range.
There are plenty of Jutsu’s that any class can use, and some only specific classes can use. You also get slight “buffs” to certain fighting styles based on the class you choose. You can also change this at any time after or before a match begins.
Now personally, I would prefer NO class system. Something similar New World would be better.
If you haven’t played either, basically you can level up anything you want to. You obviously would get certain amount of skill points to use to make certain “spells” or weapons better, but it is also easy to change whenever you feel like. You just need to level that individual skill.
This is such a better way of doing things. Mostly because it lets players identify with ONE character. It’s “them” in the MMO.
If this isn’t possible then something like above from Shinobi Strikers would be okay… I guess.
The biggest flaw in so many great games is the lack of customization. Whenever a game developer goes WAY over the top in this area, I ALWAYS like the game more.
Especially in an MMO, people want to identify with their individual character. If they look the same or similar to tons of others, it takes away from the experience.
And Naruto has so many options. There are tons of outfits already in the show. Tons of hairstyles, and no lack of character diversity.
Full customization is a MUST.
I’m honestly so shocked this hasn’t happened already. Anime is SO massive right now in the West (and many other places) and MMO’s are starting to make a come back in popularity.
All they need is good fighting mechanics. Get rid of this “button rotation” bullshit that gets boring in a week.
Have good fighting. Awesome looking “powers” and Anime style tiddies and you have yourself a money-making MACHINE.
So here are my basic thoughts. I am going to leave comments open on this one and if anyone has ideas post them below! Maybe we will have some up and coming game developer see this one day and make the game of our dreams.
