Best Anime to Watch 2021
Holy crap did 2020 suck.
We had delay upon delay for nearly every anime, tv show and movie (thanks rona).
But finally, as things start to turn around we are getting all the much needed series we so desperately awaited for.
Now don’t get me wrong. We had a few series come out during the height of this thing that helped carry us through. THANK YOU ‘Attack on Titan” and ‘RE:Zero’ for that.
But let’s be honest. They were short lived with the amount of binge watching we do. So now its time for some new shit, as well as some new seasons. So let’s find out what’s already here, and what’s on the horizon.
8. My Hero Academia Season 5
Release Date: March 2021
Available on: Crunchyroll, Hulu
About (for those who haven’t watched):
My Hero Academia is probably one of the best ‘newer’ anime’s out there. The fight scenes are litty titty, and the character personality is fantastic.
The anime follows the main character “Izuku Midoriya” also known as “Deku”. He’s a young boy living in a world where most of the population have superpowers, known as quirks.
Unfortunately, he does not have any such quirk. Hes just a regular kid, but with a big brain.
Pretty early in the show though he does obtain some powers. But I don’t want to ruin anything.
The rest of the show takes place with him at his new “school” for other gifted kids. All learning to control their powers and fight bad guys.
7. Vlad Love
Release Date : February 2021
Available on: Crunchyroll
About: Vampires
Okay I know what you’re thinking. “Ugh another vampire show”.
Well not quite. This anime was a great watch. The humor kind of reminds me of “konosuba” so if you’re into that, I highly suggest this.
The anime focuses primarily on comedy and the friendship between the main characters.
6. JuJutsu Kaisen
Release Date: October 3, 2020
Available on: Jujutsu Kaisen
Plot: The story of Jujutsu Kaisen is set in a world where Cursed Spirits feed on unsuspecting humans and fragments of the legendary and feared demon Ryomen Sukuna have been lost and scattered about.
Should any curse consume Sukuna's body parts, the power they gain could destroy the world as we know it. Fortunately, there exists a mysterious school of Jujutsu Sorcerers who exist to protect the precarious existence of the living from the supernatural!
5. Vivy: Flourite Eye’s Song
Release Date: April 3
Available on: Funimation
Plot: Recruited by an AI from the future inhabiting the body of a teddy bear, AI idol singer Vivy is tasked with preventing the AI apocalypse by intervening at key moments in history.
4. Wonder Egg Priority
Release Date: January 2021
Available On: Funimation
Plot: A 4-year-old Ai Ooto as she fights to protect the souls of dead teenage girls housed within the eponymous "wonder eggs
3. 86
Release Date: April 11
Available On: Crunchyroll
Plot: Lena, a young major in the military responsible for commanding an army of machines against an opposing Legion of drones.
2. To Your Eternity
Release Date: April 12
Available On: Crunchyroll
Plot: A young boy named Fushi discovers a strange orb that lands on earth. While it starts off as a rock, it eventually turns into a wolf.
Fushi then sets off on a journey with his new wolf friend. The anime is sad and heartfelt but also happy. If you liked ‘A silent voice’ you will probably love this anime.
1. Beastars Season 2
Release Date: July 2021
Available on: Netflix
Plot: In a world of anthropomorphic animals, a reclusive wolf's complicated relationship with a kindly rabbit is tested by a classmate's murder, a charismatic deer's influence, and his own burgeoning predatory instincts.
Hope you'll find something here you enjoy! There were a ton of great anime in 2021 and I'm sure there will be more in the future.
