One of the most gripping parts of watching a good “hero” anime is the villain.

 

A good plot makes it feel absolutely hopeless for the main character at times.  It has you wondering “how the hell are they ever going to beat this dude!?!? (or dudette).

 

Sometimes the bad guy is just REALLY powerful. Or sometimes they’re so incredibly terrifying your bones shake to the core whenever they appear on screen.

 

And that my friend is what makes the perfect anime villain. 

 

Power only goes so far.  Strength is but only one quality that villains need to be scary.

But if you want the audience to remember true terror, you need something more.

 

Pure evil….

 

So without further ado, let’s take a look at the creepiest anime villains of all time.

 

5. The Titans

 

For this I want you to think back to the first time you’ve watched Attack on Titan.  Before you knew the full journey of what has happened so far.

 

This was over 8 years ago.  And nothing quite like Attack on Titan has aired before.  Nobody knew what was going to happen and the humans in the show were in absolute disarray.

 

In that first episode when these titans appeared not a SINGLE person saw their stupid “joker” like faces and didn’t shake in their boots when they ripped people limb from limb and ate them.

 

It’s a bit different now because we learned more about the Titans.  But holy shit was the scene of Eren’s mother getting eaten absolutely horrifying.

 

4 Betelgeuse (or Petelgeuse) from RE:Zero

 

FYI I looked this up and from what I can tell they changed his name from a “B” or a “P”.  I think it’s because of copyright reasons with “Beetlejuice” but honestly I can’t remember.

 

This guy was an absolute SHITSHOW though.  **Minor spoilers ahead**

 

This villain is VERY similar to renditions of “Joker” from the batman series.

He’s got a creepy ass face with a giant bone chilling smile and wide eyes.  And he’s essentially a “religious” fanatic who believes he is the right hand of the “witch” in the show.

 

The way he talks to himself and his wacky movements really show how damaged of a character this villain is.

 

But that’s not all.  He’s also as ruthless as they come.

 

There is a scene where the main hero of the story is chained to a wall.  And Rem comes to save him.

You probably remember this scene now…

 

Betelgeuse stops her mid-air and snaps her whole body in half, leaving her as a mangled bloody mess.

I was absolutely shook when I saw this.  There was no humanity to be found in this freak.

Well done Re:zero.

 

3 Hisoka

Okay this one may be a little personal.

But I want you to think about this carefully…

 

An ACTUAL clown that murders people for fun and for some reason likes little kids.

 

This is LITERALLY the reason the book “IT” haunted all of the boomers for generations.  That shit is terrifying.

 

And it’s not even just murder.  He enjoys butchering people.  That takes killing to a whole new level.

 

There is no feeling bad or “understanding” that level of sociopath.  He is a killer through and through.

 

2 Griffith from Berserk

 

This is one who’s outward looks isn’t what made him a monster.  He was someone we all trusted.  A Hero even.

 

He gave so many “lost souls” a home.  He was someone they all looked up to and rallied behind.  A true king.

Almost “out of nowhere” he killed all of his followers with no remorse. Bringing demons to feast upon their bodies

 

And so much worse… well… we know what happened. And if you don’t, go watch the movies on Netflix.  Because it’s not really a topic to discuss here.

 

This guy is more of a monster than anything with claws and fangs. 

 

1 Shou Tucker : Full Metal Alchemist

 

We all remember this piece of shit right?  Sometimes it’s not the outward looks that makes someone scary.

It’s the seemingly normalness with a black hole for a heart that does.

What makes this guy so terrifying is his…

 

Lack of being terrifying…

 

He was seemingly pretty normal.  A dorky dad with glasses, a great daughter, and a lover of science.  He was just another dude.

 

But this man traumatized anime fans as a whole.  And something that hasn’t been forgotten in YEARS since it happened.

 

He fused his little girl with the family dog.

 

To this day the absolute most heart wrenching act that has ever been done in anime.  F*ck you Shou Tucker.
