Top 5 'Ride Or Die" Anime Waifu's
Top 5 ‘Ride Or Die’ Waifu’s
Since the dawn of time anime has been filled with tons of hot babes. Don’t lie, I know you have at least ONE that you love.
It doesn’t matter that they’re 2D. It doesn’t change our attraction to their looks or their personality.
In fact, there’s actually a psychological reason for this. Many humans get easily attached to fictional characters. Especially animated ones.
Why? Well there are a couple reasons.
The first is because of the transparency. When watching an anime we can know the character. How they act, what they do, and their morals.
This isn’t as easy with human to human interaction. It takes time to build trust and many people tend to hide their true feelings or thoughts in certain situations.
There’s always a “wall” that people put up in front of others.
This isn’t really the case with animated characters. They’re written to us exactly as who they are. We can visualize that and have an easier time with empathy towards what they are feeling.
Which brings me to my other point.
Because of our empathy and understanding, its easy to understand their goals, ambitions and feelings.
And they often portray actions of who we want to be.
You take a hero who rises above all the hurdles and obstacles in their way. They fight for what they want or what they feel they need to do to protect the ones they love. That’s very admirable and qualities most of us want to have in ourselves.
And this goes for waifu’s too.
Aside from their short skirts and soft facial features, their passion and love for their romantic partner is extremely desirable. Something we all look for in our other half.
This post isn’t going to focus on “who’s the hottest” girl or the “toughest”, but rather the girls who stick by the side of the one they love. Through thick and thin. The ‘Ride or Die’ girls.
5. Hinata Hyuga
You can’t have this list without including Hinata.
The shy but tough ninja who was in love with Naruto since the very beginning.
It’s funny because most of us loved Sakura at the beginning of the show. I mean she had pink hair, was pretty badass and she’s also one of the main characters.
I think most of us who watched the show at the start expected her and Naruto get together.
But we learn that Naruto and Hinata’s relationship is much deeper than a schoolgirl crush.
Throughout the course of the show (and in particularly the movie “The Last”) we can see just how deep her love for him goes.
It started as a young girl. Hinata was being picked on by a couple of young boys. As a kid, Naruto steps in and tells them to piss off.
He unfortunately gets his ass kicked because he’s pretty terrible at using Jutsu at this point.
But nonetheless, Hinata was in love.
Naruto gave her his scarf that was destroyed in the fight by the bullies. And she kept that scarf HER WHOLE DAMN LIFE.
In this movie you get to see flashbacks on incidents that weren’t in the anime. Times where either she or Naruto were being picked on or lonely. And the other was there to help.
In the anime itself there were several times she sacrificed herself for him too. The most notable was the fight with Pain.
Naruto is completely pinned down. Rods sticking out of every limb on his body.
Hinata leaps into the fight against the most powerful foe we have seen until this point. All to destroy the spikes in Naruto’s back so that he could continue the fight.
She seemingly dies trying to do this. And Naruto goes full batshit crazy to whoop Pain’s ass. It was awesome.
4. Asuna Yuuki
SAO gets a lot of heat these days for some reason. My assumption is that people just like to complain about it because its so popular and mainstream.
No its not the best anime ever, but it’s pretty darn good, and at the time it was one of VERY few ‘MMO’ inspired anime’s available in the West.
Asuna was one badass in this show. The first time Kirito sees her is in a dungeon. She is one of the best fighters (if not the best fighter) in her group.
Her incredible speed and precision led to her nickname, the “Berserk Healer”.
Throughout the show the two of these heroes constantly have each other’s back.
They even kind of adopt a little kid and get a house on the countryside.
Which honestly was kind of weird lol.
But all in all it was pretty cute and helped to show the start of their love for each other.
Asuna’s real devotion shows in a further continuation of the series. Sword art Alicization
In the beginning of this anime her and Kirito get attacked in the real world. Neither of them have any powers. They’re just a regular couple.
As Kirito steps in front of her to fight off the attacker, he gets hurt. And then kidnapped.
Asuna goes to the ends of the earth to find him. Stops her whole life and hunts these people down. She even travels halfway across the world.
I don’t want to ruin anything else about the anime, but her devotion to him in the real world is nearly unmatched by anime girl in anime.
3. Rem
Re:zero is a fantastic anime about a boy named Subaru who gets transported to a new world. Only instead of having super speed or magical abilities, hes just a regular dude.
However, he has a curse that when he dies, he “resets” to an earlier point in the anime.
Now the odd thing here is that when Rem first meets Subaru she kills him. Multiple times actually.
I don’t want to go into detail in case you haven’t seen it, but the two of them end up having a serious bond.
She saves him, he saves her. Back and forth over and over again through season one.
At one point in the show when Subaru is at his lowest, he offers to “run away from it all” with Rem. To leave everything behind and try to have a happy life with her. Get married and have a child.
Even though Rem is totally in love with him, she knows that he loves a different girl. She denies leaving with him. Picks him up, brushes him off, and convinces him to be the hero she knows he is.
I’m quite excited to see how this anime ends. There’s this really weird love triangle going on. But if I got to choose, I think Rem deserves spot #1 in Subaru’s heart.
2. Taiga Asaka
Interestingly enough I NEVER thought I would get into romance anime’s.
For the longest time I just wanted to see action and adventure. And can you really blame me?
Action in anime is always so cool. And some of the fight scenes are better than any movie I have seen.
Or at least more impactful to me.
But one day I caved and I watched ‘Toradora!’.
Straight through. With no breaks…..
I was totally hooked. The love story between her and Ryuji is amazing. The two start off as “enemies” who decide to help each other go after their real crushes.
Taiga is incredibly sassy and rough around the edges. While Ryuji is quiet, but incredibly warm hearted.
Over the anime you start to see little glimpses of the bond the two share. It’s never REALLY obvious until later on.
I can’t possibly sum up the whole thing here. You’ll have to watch it for yourself.
But just trust me on this one. This is my favorite love story of all time.
1. Zero Two
I know what you’re gonna say. “YOU ALWAYS PICK ZERO TWO”.
Well okay, you’re right. I’m a little biased. I really loved Darling in the Franxx, and I’m also super into chicks with pink hair. What can I say?
But I do also feel like she deserves a spot here. And not in the normal way. Because honestly she did a couple really shitty things in the anime to Hiro.
A brief summary of this: The anime is about drivers of these “mechs”. They’re fighting off these other creatures to save the last bit of humanity.
At least that’s what they are told.
Zero two is by far the best driver. She’s batshit crazy and bloodthirsty.
The way these mechs operate is with two drivers. A man and a woman.
We learn that no one can stay alive very long as Zero Two’s other co-pilot. She goes too hard and is too reckless. Usually within a few missions, the person dies.
Zero two is incredibly broken inside. She almost seems like a sociopath. Right off the rip of the anime she meets Hiro and is ALL over him. Clearly taking advantage of her looks to get him to be her other rider.
She refers to him as “Darling”.
Where this gets interesting is later on.
We learn that Zero Two has been searching for her “real Darling” for many many years. Someone she met as a child who saved her. The only person to ever show her real love.
After treating Hiro like total shit and basically saying she’s been using him and that he is “cannon fodder”, she learns that he WAS her ‘Darling’ that she’s been searching for since a child.
Everything changes after this.
From this point on the two of them really stand the test of time. I’m not going to ruin it, but I can’t recommend this anime enough.
