6 Violent Anime You Need To Watch
6 Violent Anime You Need To Watch
While storyline and plot are great, sometimes you just wanna turn off your brain and watch some hero CLAP the absolute shit out of bad guys. I’m talkin swords, magic, gore, blood and more gore.
But why can’t you have both? Plenty of Bad-Assery WITH the compelling story and beautiful detail that keeps you hooked on the edge of your seat.
Well, here’s the good news. YOU CAN! There are tons of great anime out there that have both head chopping awesomeness AND a wicked storyline to keep you glued to the screen. And I’m going to share some of the best right here for you. So let’s get to it.
1. Elfen Lied
Who doesn’t like hot red headed psychopaths with a taste for blood and romance? No one…ever.
This anime centers around Lucy, a genetically mutated human with horns and invisible telekinetic hands that rip people to shreds. Lucy spent her childhood in a lab where she was constantly tested on and trained to be a killer. The complete torture she went through led to a split personality that leaves her starving for blood, but also like an innocent child looking for love.
Right off rip this anime starts with Lucy escaping her captives. Once she does her split child-like personality comes out and she stumbles into Kouta, the other main character of show. Kouta and his cousin Yuka take Lucy in to care for her, unknowing of her violent tendencies. This very quickly this leads them all down of path of violence and government conspiracies.
2. Tokyo Ghoul
This one is a personal and fan favorite that is an absolute MUST SEE if you haven’t already.
The world is split between humans and Ghouls, which are basically vampires on steroids. They contain superhuman strength & agility, along with their own unique hidden power that helps them fight. And to make them even more terrifying, the only food they can eat is human blood.
Kaneki, a pretty average high school student gets asked on a date by a gorgeous girl in his class. Purple hair and way out of his league. Come to find out, this chick is actually a ghoul and tricks him into a dark alleyway so she can eat his face off… and not in the good way.
Through sheer LUCK a giant metal pipe from a construction site overhead falls on both of them, killing the ghoul but leaving him severely injured. He gets transported to a hospital for surgery, where the staff unknowingly use the dead ghouls organs to save his life.
You guessed it. Now Kaneki is half ghoul-half human. There is A LOT of fighting and heart wrenching plot in this anime that will keep you hooked from start to finish.
3. Parasyte
Ever wonder what it would be like to have a talking hand with knives? Ya… me neither.
But Parasyte does it for us! These weird worm-like creatures from another planet land on earth and start entering through the ears of peoples bodies. Once there it takes over the brain, gaining full control over their bodies.
One of these parasytes enters Shinichi Izumi, who catches it half-way through, instead allowing the parasite only to take over his hand. Overnight the hand gets a mind of its own. It’s able to talk, transform, and even speak. The rest of the anime follows these two gaining a love-hate relationship with each other, but teaming up to fight other parasytes walking around earth.
4. Berserk
By a long shot the MOST violent adult-rated anime I have ever seen. Imagine Game of Thrones but somehow even MORE extreme and disturbing.
The first section of this anime is on Netflix and cut into a long movie. It follows the main character, named Gut’s, who is a savage barbarian and mercenary. He uses a giant Claymore sword and is as ruthless as can be.
He ends up being found by a man named Griffiths who leads a group called “Band of the Hawk”. Unlike Guts, Griffiths is a long white-haired nobleman who fights with grace rather than savagery. He ends up beating Guts in a fight, and indebted to him, Guts joins his group.
Guts fights alongside Griffiths for many years, becoming his right hand, and closest friend.
Only Griffiths ends up not being who he’s thought to be, and all hell breaks loose. The anime takes an extremely violent and horrific turn.
If you like the movie, the anime is continued in 2016 with the sequel. But I highly suggest watching the Movies first. They’re on Netflix.
5. Redo Of Healer
This is one of the more controversial anime’s out there. Definitely not for the feint of heart, so move on from this one if you’re not looking for something with an extremely twisted and dark plot.
You know how when you’re playing an MMO its pretty easy to blame the healer when something goes wrong? That’s the basis of this anime. There are several heroes of the kingdom that basically follow DPS/Tank/Healer.
The main character, Keyaru, is a poor boy who grows up on the outskirts of the kingdom. Turns out he has the power of the healer and gets found by the kingdoms Queen. Thinking he is going to become a hero he is overwhelmed with joy.
The downside is that his healing power comes with a catch. Whenever he heals someone, he has all the horrible memories of that person overwhelm him within seconds. This causes a lot of psychological harm that makes him not want to do it.
The queen, wanting his power, forces him into slavery where unthinkable things happen to him. It causes him to plot his revenge and “redo” his life. I wont go into detail but this anime is very brutal, and uses extremely controversial topics to portray the horror both seen and caused by the main character.
6. Blood C
This is one of the lesser known animes, but nonetheless is FULL of hack-and-slash action. Saya Kisaragi, a regular outgoing highschool student, oversees defending her village from evil monsters.
The monsters are called “Elder Bairns” which take over inanimate objects and kill humans for their blood. It focuses a bit less on plot, and a lot more on savage action and really cool fight scenes. So if you’re in the mood to just watch a girl whoop some serious monster butt, this is the one for you.
