Anime has so many great qualities to it.  The fight scenes are fantastic. And the romance is always something to be desired.

That’s why you always see fan posts on the internet of “shipping” characters together.  Even when the anime itself didn’t explore the romance as an option.

But one of the BEST parts of anime is the comedy. 

I get pretty amazed at how a simple facial expression can throw me into a spiral of laughter that makes me spit my coffee out all over myself.

As they say, “laughter is the best medicine”.   I certainly agree with this. 

So let’s take a look at some of the funniest anime moments the world has ever seen.

10. Taiga willing to choke over Orange Juice

 

This one is so funny to me because it depicts her character PERFECTLY. 

Taiga is the sassy friend that everyone loves.  Her harsh personality and “cranky” attitude, somehow makes her adorable and lovable.

In this scene of the anime Taiga and Ryuuji are having lunch at the cafeteria with their friends.

Taiga starts choking on her food.  Literally can’t breath.

Ryuuji goes to offer her a drink, and this sassy girl PUSHES IT AWAY because it’s not orange juice.

So rather than take the drink in front of her WHILE CHOKING TO DEATH, Ryuuji instead has to run to the vending machine to get the Orange juice she wants.

Now if that’s not love… I don’t know what is.

 

9. Darkness Missing Every Attack against Beldia

 

Konosuba may be the funniest anime of all time.  It’s essentially like watching an MMO questline being performed by the most incompetent party ever.

You have a mage that can only cast a spell once a day. A literal GODDESS who is basically useless, and a knight who sucks at sword fighting.

Yet somehow… it works.

One of the first main villains of the show is Beldia.  A black knight who comes to attack the town.

Which by the way, is because the mage Megumin decided to shoot an explosion spell at his castle for no reason.

During the fight, the knight ‘Darkness’ gives this big speech about how she is going to destroy him and save the day.

She takes out her sword and heroically charges right into battle.  Swinging her mighty sword she unleashes a furry of attacks!

Only to miss....

Every. Single. One.

The best part?  The black knight wasn’t even moving.

 

8. Shiro and Sora get separated

 

If you’ve seen No Game No Life then you know how close these two siblings are.

Throughout the anime they are ALWAYS together.  To the point where they literally can’t function without the other close by.

In this scene Sora ‘accidently’ falls onto Stephanie and grabs her breasts. 

Which is always hilarious in anime in itself.

As a punishment Stephanie locks Sora in another room, separating him for Shiro.

Within about 2 seconds, Sora hurls up in the fetal position screaming that he's sorry for touching her breasts.  Explaining that he's a ‘guy’ and thought he would never get another opportunity to touch breasts.

He’s screaming so violently that Stephanie opens the door to check on him, looks behind her, and sees Shiro doing the same thing.

Sora comes running out of the room right to his sister, and IMMEDIATELY the two of them calm down like nothing even happened.

Co-dependency much?

 

7. Accidental Groin Punch

 

In ‘One Punch Man’ Saitama’s fist is the apparent strongest thing in the universe.

Every Foe is obliterated by just ONE punch from his fist.

This scene is a ‘jimmy tap’ gone very, very wrong.

The villain, Sonic, unleashes his full power on Saitama.  Unfortunately for him it’s having no effect.

To unleash one final giant attack, Sonic jumps in the air planning to dropkick Saitama’s head clean off.

Only Saitama dodges, puts his fist up, and it lands right on sonics balls.

The anime then cuts over to a standstill frame that says “we are experiencing technical difficulties”.

And then comes back to Saitama apologizing and blaming “momentum” for the accidental dick punch.

 

6. Kakashi Revealing What’s Under His Mask

 

Naruto is one of the best anime ever made. Hands down.

The fight scenes are epic as shit, and the friendships are amazing.

But it also has many hilarious moments that will have you crying with laughter.

One of the best is the episode where Naruto, Sasukke and Sakura are trying to see what’s under Kakashi’s mask.

The episode is filled with all these funny tactics of how the three of them are going to get his mask off.

It turns out, after their many attempts to reveal his face, that all they had to do was ask him.

Kakashi slowly grabs his mask as the three of them intensely wait to see what’s underneath.

The scene gets really intense as he pulls it down. And then the big reveal….

ANOTHER MASK LOLOL!!!

I remember being just as enthused as the three ninjas waiting to see their sensei’s face.  I got close to the screen and waited intensely.  I thought I was gonna pee my pants when there was another mask underneath his first mask.

 

5. Gintama Toilet Paper Scene

This anime is really something else. 

The episode is dedicated ENTIRELY to 4 warriors trying to take a dump and not having toilet paper.

As theyr’e all sitting their trying to figure out who can wipe first, the oldest samurai finds a bit of sandpaper.

And its exactly what you’d imagine….

They’re all sitting there trying to convince the others to wipe their butts with sandpaper.  One starts to scratch it on the ground and when the others hear they pull out pictures of their wives to say goodbye.

Two of the samurai get convinced to wipe themselves with it and rush out of the stalls to continue fighting each other. 

When the fight comes to an end the remaining ninja’s ass explodes with blood and he falls to the floor.

 

4. Avdol And Joseph Get Stuck Together

This scene is exactly what you would picture if you saw two grown men in public who accidently get stuck together.

They’re out on a bridge and josephs face gets stuck right on Avdols crotch.  The best part?  A bunch of kids are standing there watching and then bring all their friends to see what’s going on.

The two men are frantically trying to separate from each other and freaking out that people are “going to get the wrong idea”.

Then an elderly woman passing by sees them and starts beating them with an umbrella.

This was a fantastic anime moment.

 

3. Sokka Cactus Juice

Okay so I’m not sure if this really qualifies as “anime” but can we just let it slide?  This is one of my favorite scenes of all time so I’m gonna share it anyway.

The Last Airbender is one of the best anime shows of all time (IMO) and Sokka is such a beloved character I had to put him on this list.

As the main characters are crossing a dessert and dying of thirst, Sokka finds a cactus and immediately starts drinking the juice.  Saying it’s “thirst Quenching”.

The minute he takes it you can see that it wasn’t just water. 

He starts hallucinating thinking that Toph is on Fire and going on and on about how “quenchy” the water is.

I really loved this scene so much that I engraved my own Tumbler called “Sokka’s cactus juice”.

 

2. Gabriel Dropout- Chopsticks scene

This was an adorable anime scene of three schoolgirls eating lunch together.  One passes out wooden chopsticks to everybody. 

You know the kind you get if you order Chinese Takeout in the U.S.

The girl Satania has clearly never seen this before and thinks the other girls are playing a prank.

She thinks they only gave her one chopstick to eat with.

She says “What do you think I am, stupid?”

The other girl then says that they’re disposable and you have to rip them in half.

She then goes on the break them LITERALLY in half... the wrong way…

Her friend praises her jokingly saying “wow you saw the perforation and snapped them across it…”

 

1. Vacuum Butt Cannon

Keijo!! Is one of the absolute most ridiculous anime I have ever seen. 

It’s a ‘sport’ anime that revolves around girls who compete in a sport they call Keijo.

Which is basically standing on platforms in the water and trying to knock your opponent off

With your ass or boobs…

And trust me, its as hilariously absurd as it sound.

The part that’s really funny is they treat their “special moves” like a power up scene in DBZ.

They really play up the drama as if it’s way more intense than it actually is.

There is one scene where the main character is fighting a really good opponent, and it looks like she’s going to lose.

She then unleashes a brand new “attack” flipping through the air at high speed.

As she spins around she unleashes the “vacuum Butt Cannon” which is a superior ASS strike that is so strong it creates a “vacuum” around it that knocks people away.

 

Pro Tip: Don’t watch this anime while you’re running on a treadmill at the gym.
